"As if 2020 wasn't bad enough we got the devastating news that our 7 year old German shepherd had cancer in his bones then 8 weeks later our 15 year old gave up too... Losing the two of them in such a short time was so hard! We left it for a while then started looking at puppies and other rescues. We then came across Strays Without Borders by accident on Facebook. We had a little look at all the dogs on the website... then we both stopped on a little lost looking pup called Shane. So I filled in the application form, then within hours, I had a reply to ask if Sandra could video call me in the morning. We showed her our small enclosed garden then we did a tour of the house showing where the dog would sleep and have some space away from everyone if it needed it. We also did a tour out the front of the house into our cul de sac. Then I showed her our wonderful field next door to the house. Answering a few more questions with this lovely lady about all my previous dogs we've owned, she said she would get back to us. After a couple of hours I got a message to say Shane is ours if we want her... we were delighted. So paperwork signed and money paid. Sandra then said she may be able to get her on the Happy bus in a few days.

Everyone was so helpful, any questions we had were answered straight away.

11 days later she was in England. We were kept informed when the bus was halfway with photos of our little girl, and a few days later she was taken to kennels in Southampton for one night .

We arrived at the kennels, they brought her out to us and we fell in love. We took our large dog crate for the car but she was a little bit big for it!! But she sat in it with her head poking out with me stroking her... she was so good in the car. An hour later, we arrived home and tried to tell her after her days of travelling that she was HOME forever now!!

She had a good sniff at everything and, as it was a few days before Christmas, she loved looking at the decorations - "how come they got a tree in the house?!"

She found her new comfy bed and all her new toys (very spoilt pup). We then had a couple of days trying out lots of lovely girly names (couldn't call her Shane it didn't suit her, they said she didn't know her name anyway). Because she has very blue fur we kept saying names with the colour. So that's why we found the name Sapphire... our little gem, Saffy for short.

We had a very quiet Christmas, lots of training everyday, sometimes she joins in sometimes she doesn't... Then harness on and collar with a double lead... not taking any chances of losing her! She walked lovely, no pulling just wanted to see and sniff everything, we met a few dogs and let her say hello she was very polite. She seems to know who wants to play and who doesn't, she just doesn't like going home time!

We leave her for 4 hours every day and I watch her on our nanny cam at work... she is always asleep... on her back mainly or chewing her treat filled kong but so chilled out, knowing we all come home to her soon. We can't thank Snezana and the team enough. I know she loves seeing all the dogs on the "happily ever after" facebook page, it's the least we can do to let her see how all her dogs are doing. Now, 5 months on with us we have had her 1st birthday and she is a very chilled, well behaved girl. No mess in the house since week 2 and says hello and plays with all the dogs and humans if they have treats in their pockets over our field. Everyone loves Saffy." - Kerry and Dave
