"After losing my GS rescue girl Zelda in September 2020, once again I told myself no more dogs as it breaks my heart when I lose them. But a few weeks later I knew I wanted to adopt another rescue from abroad as I had rescued my boy Manolo aka Manny from Romania 2 years previously. He was missing his sister so much he became depressed so I started searching the internet looking for my next fur baby to join our family and came across a photo of a beautiful German Shepherd girl named Ruby. I knew at once she was the one I wanted to adopt. I contacted the wonderful rescue Strays Without Borders and immediately reserved her.
I can honestly say the whole process was straightforward and thorough and everyone at the rescue were so helpful and supportive. I had an interview over the phone with Suzanne who also did my home check via WhatsApp video and gave me extra information on Ruby, answering any questions I had on what to expect from a rescue dog. I know I get support from the rescue if needed.
Ruby was inquisitive and nervous at the same time when we first got her home but we gave her the space she needed to explore and to settle down in her own time. I won’t pretend we had no issues, but with lots of love and patience, four months on Ruby and Manny are now inseparable and bring so much laughter and joy into our lives.
I cannot thank the team, especially Snezana, for taking her off the streets and taking great care of Ruby before she travelled to her now forever home. Ruby gives so much love back and loves playing with her squeaky cuddly toys and now enjoys a game of football.
I have always had rescue dogs and the love you get back from them is unbelievable, they really do fill your heart with so much love and are so very special.
I can honestly recommend Snezana and the whole team at Strays without Borders 100% to anyone who is looking or thinking of getting a dog you will not be disappointed.
Thank you Ruby for bringing a special love into our lives."
